1. What this covers
These guidelines apply to forum threads, replies, profile activity comments, public profile content, coach marketplace listings, and any social feature on ChessTing. They supplement our Terms of Service.
2. Scout vs profile (important)
- Scout analyses opponents for your private prep — never post someone else's scout report or private stats to humiliate or harass them.
- Profiles are your training identity — share your own progress, reviews, and drills you choose to publish.
3. Allowed content
- Opening prep, training routines, tournament stories, and constructive feedback.
- Links to your public games on Chess.com or Lichess.
- Coach listings that accurately describe services, experience, and pricing.
- Disagreement expressed respectfully — attack ideas, not people.
4. Prohibited content & behaviour
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Harassment & hate | Slurs, threats, bullying, targeted abuse based on protected characteristics |
| Illegal content | CSAM, terrorism promotion, incitement to violence, fraud |
| Privacy violations | Doxxing, sharing private messages, posting minors' data without consent |
| Spam & manipulation | Bot posts, referral spam, fake engagement, repeated duplicate threads |
| Impersonation | Pretending to be ChessTing staff, famous players, or other users |
| Cheating promotion | Encouraging engine use in rated games or OTB cheating |
| Misleading coaches | False credentials, bait-and-switch pricing, non-chess scams |
| NSFW | Sexual content, gratuitous violence — keep it family-friendly |
5. Moderation
ChessTing staff roles:
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Moderator | Hide posts/comments, lock threads, suspend coach listings |
| Admin | Delete content, pin threads, assign Moderators |
| Superuser | Assign Admins and Superusers |
Moderators may act without prior notice on clear violations. Serious or repeated violations may lead to account termination. We are not obligated to pre-moderate all content.
6. Appeals
If your content was removed or your account restricted, email support@chessting.com within 14 days with:
- Your username and the URL of the content or thread.
- Why you believe the action was incorrect.
We aim to review appeals within 14 days. Our decision after appeal is final for platform access.
7. Reporting
Report violations to support@chessting.com with links and screenshots where helpful. For illegal content involving minors or imminent harm, we may report to relevant authorities.
8. UK Online Safety context
We take illegal content seriously. While ChessTing is a niche training community (not a large social platform), we follow reasonable practices for user safety: moderation tools, takedown procedures, and cooperation with law enforcement where legally required.
9. Changes
We may update these guidelines. Continued use of community features after updates constitutes acceptance together with our Terms.
